25kg UAPL Practical Training Overview

The 25kg UAPL practical training programme is designed for learners progressing from Class A UAPL rotorcraft operations up to 7kg towards operations up to 25kg.

Learners will develop hands-on competency through UAS pre-flight and post-flight checks, manual flight manoeuvres without GNSS assistance, precision hovering, climbing and descending circuits, figure-of-eight manoeuvres, precision landing, mission planning and emergency procedure handling.

Training is conducted using Class A rotorcraft up to 25kg and is intended to prepare learners for the separate 25kg UAPL practical assessment.

The same CAAS UAPL Theory Test applies to both the 7kg and 25kg Class A UAPL pathways.

25kg Practical Training is preparatory training and is not the UAPL Practical Assessment itself. You must pass the CAAS UAPL Theory Test and the separate 25kg UAPL Practical Assessment before completing your UAPL application through CAPELS.

01Do I need a Class A UAPL 7kg licence before joining the 25kg UAPL practical training?

Yes. Learners must hold the Class A UAPL (Rotorcraft) up to 7kg licence before enrolling in the 25kg UAPL practical training course.

This helps ensure learners have the required foundation before progressing to larger rotorcraft UA operations.

02Will I receive my UAPL after completing the 25kg practical training?

No. Completing this course does not mean you will receive your UAPL immediately.

Upon successful completion, you will receive AKC's E-Certificate if you meet all competency requirements. To obtain your UAPL licence, you must meet the relevant CAAS requirements, including passing the required theory test, completing the practical assessment, and submitting the required UAPL application.

03Do I need to bring my own drone or unmanned aircraft (UA)?

No. Training drones, fully charged batteries, helipad, cones, camping pins, and other required practical training items will be prepared for the practical sessions.

04Can I fly commercially after completing the 25kg UAPL practical training?

Not immediately. This practical drone course helps you build the hands-on flight skills required for Class A UAPL 25kg operations, but you must still meet CAAS requirements before flying commercially.

This includes fulfilling the required theory, practical assessment, and UAPL application requirements.
