Course Overview

The programme can help individual cleaners to acquire a formal credential (SOA) that matches their knowledge and abilities required in daily cleaning and removing spillage from furniture and furnishings, and thereby contribute to improving their employability, mobility, lifelong learning, social inclusion and self-esteem in the environment services sector.

Course Outcomes

To allow learners to,

Demonstrate knowledge and abilities required in following processes and procedures on cleaning of furniture and furnishing

This is demonstrated by the following Enabling Objectives at the workplace

  1. Preparing for work activities
  2. Wear personal protective equipment and display safety signs when maintaining furniture and furnishings
  3. Assemble tools, equipment and consumable supplies to maintain furniture and furnishings
  4. Inform supervisor when a work activity cannot be carried out
  5. Assess soiled condition of furniture and furnishings
  6. Remove dust, debris, soilage, and spillage from furniture and furnishings in accordance with organisational procedures.
  7. Reinstating work area by keeping tools and equipment and replenish consumable supplies to ensure smooth operation.

Prerequisites:

Learner’s Profile:

  • 18 years old
  • Secondary or lower education
  • Have attended formal/informal training which is relevant to the Module applied for within the last year, OR
  • Have at least 3 months of relevant work experience within the last 3 years from the date of application for AOP in relation to the Module applied for.
  • Able to speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification Workplace Literacy Level (WPL) 1
