The Public Hygiene Maintenance Course - Commercial Spaces (Level 1)  - Assessment Only Pathway (AOP)

Course Overview

This course is designed for both new and existing General Cleaners within the Environmental Services sectors. It aims to equip learners with the basic skills to effectively perform general, manual cleaning activities in a commercial environment. The enhanced training requirement under the guideline of Tripartite Cluster for Cleaners (TCC) recommendation equips cleaners with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out their work safely, as well as achieve higher productivity, better service delivery, and provide quality cleaning outcomes to service buyers.

Course Outcomes

Learners will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate key enabling objectives at the workplace:

  • Identifying Hygiene Risks: Spotting common hygiene risks on-site.
  • Performing Cleaning Tasks: Carrying out cleaning tasks using proper tools and cleaning solutions.
  • Safety & Waste Handling: Following safety procedures and handling waste correctly.
  • Issue Reporting: Reporting hygiene issues and adhering to organizational procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the public.

Prerequisites

Learners are assumed to be:

  • Min 18 years old
  • Have attended formal/informal training which is relevant to the Module applied for within the last year, OR
  • Have at least 3 months of relevant work experience within the last 3 years from the date of application for AOP in relation to the Module applied for.
  • Able to speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification Workplace Literacy Level (WPL) 4

Certifications Granted

(SOA) Statement of Attainment (e-certificate) will be issued for the course

Assessment Format & Duration

  • Practical Assessment –30 mins
  • Oral Questioning – 30 mins

Passing Criteria

  • Learners are required to achieve a 100% score for the assessment in order to attain a “Competent” grade.
  • In addition, 100% attendance is mandatory to complete the course.

Learners are eligible for SSG training grants only if they pass the course. Those who fail the assessment will not qualify for course funding. Candidates are encouraged to assess their capability in food safety practices before registering
