Course Overview

The Operate Forklift Course (Without Class 3 Licence) is a 35-hour WSQ forklift training course designed for individuals who do not hold a Class 3 driving licence. Learners will gain the knowledge and practical skills to inspect, operate and handle forklifts safely in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics environments in Singapore.

Who Should Attend This Forklift Course?

This course is suitable for individuals aged 18 and above who wish to become forklift operators without holding a Class 3 driving licence. It is also relevant to warehouse personnel, logistics workers and employees in manufacturing environments who require forklift operation training for their job roles.

What is the difference between the Forklift Course With Class 3 and Without Class 3?

The main difference is the driving licence requirement and course duration. The Forklift Course With Class 3 is for individuals holding a valid Class 3 driving licence and takes 21 hours, while the Forklift Course Without Class 3 is for individuals without one and takes 35 hours. Both courses cover essential forklift operation and workplace safety skills.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped to:

  • Understand the relevant legislations / Singapore Standards SS 573 (formerly Code of Practice 101).
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of forklift operators and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain a safe and healthy workplace for forklift operations.
  • Perform inspection of forklift and its major components prior to commencement of work (Pre-operational preparation duty) in accordance with WSH regulations, SS 573 and organizational SOP.
  • Carry out forklift operations.
  • Reinstate and hand over forklift at the end of duty.

Prerequisites:

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Learners must be physically fit and in good health
  • Not subject to deafness
  • Defective sight or other infirmity that would render him unfit to perform forklift operation safely.
  • Learners must be above 18 years of age.
  • Learners are assumed to be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS)
  • Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 3 and above or equivalent
  • Learners are assumed to be able to interpret work instructions and technical information
  • Learners are assumed to be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 3
  • Learners are assumed to be able to process numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 3

  • Prepare to carry out forklift operation
  • Inspect forklift
  • Carry out forklift operation
  • Reinstate and hand over forklift

Certifications Granted:

Certification validity – 3 Years
MOM requires participants to attend the Forklift refresher training course every 3 years.
