    COURSES FOR WORKERS - OBMLC - OPERATE BOOM LIFT COURSE
About The Course
Course Contents:  
 Learning objectives of the course:
 1. Select an appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out
 2. State the safety requirements under the workplace safety and health act and the Code of practice for working safely at height related to MEWP
 3. Carry out pre start inspection
 4. State factors affecting stability
 5. Identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation and parking of
 MEWP and their control measure
 6. Conduct workplace inspection
 7. State function of all MEWP controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures.
 8. Use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment   as a result of the Risk assessment conducted and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
 9. Operate MEWP safely
 
 Learners are expected to be 18 years old and above
 
 Course Duration and Exam format:
 9 Hours; 8:00 A.M to 6:30 P.M.
 (Class might end between 6:30 PM & 8:30 PM, depending upon practical assessment timings).
 Learning hours: 7 hrs 45mins;
 Assessment – 1 hr 15mins;
 Written, 30 MCQ, – 45mins
 Practical Performance – 30mins
 
 Passing marks:
 Written Assessment – 80%
 Practical Performance – 100%.
 
 SDF and Absentee payroll is available.

Entry Requirements
Assumed Skills & Knowledge:
 Learners are assumed to:
 1. Have basic knowledge of the relevant sector or work
 2. Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability skills (ES) level 3
 3. Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability skills (ES) level 3
 4. Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability skills (ES) level 3 and
 5. Be medically fit to work at height.
 
 100% attendance is required to be eligible to sit for the examination
