The Fire Warden Course

Course Overview

The Fire Warden Course is for individuals officially appointed as fire wardens, but also for anyone with a role in workplace safety, such as safety officers, HR personnel, team leads, and building managers. The learner profile includes staff from diverse industries like construction, offices, and manufacturing who are responsible for implementing and improving fire safety and managing emergency evacuation procedures. 

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the legal obligations under Singapore’s Fire Safety Act.
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of a Fire Warden before, during, and after a fire emergency.
  • Explain the chemistry of fire, its classifications, and methods of extinguishment.
  • Identify and report fire hazards within the workplace.
  • Confidently operate basic fire-fighting equipment like fire extinguishers and hose reels.
  • Execute effective and orderly evacuation procedures.
  • Assist the Fire Safety Manager (FSM) and SCDF during an emergency.

Before beginning this course, it’s essential to have the following:

  • Learner’s Profile: Able to converse and write in English

  2. The Science of Fire & Hazard Identification
  3. Legal Framework & The Role of a Fire Warden
  4. Fire Safety Systems & Equipment
  5. Assisting People With Disability (PWD) in Fire Emergencies
  6. Fire Hazards and Non-compliance
  7. Practical practice – use of fire extinguisher
  8. Fire Prevention Measures

Additional Details:

Target Audience: Employees appointed as Fire Wardens, members of the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT), and anyone responsible for fire safety in the workplace.

Medium of Instruction: English
Course Attendance – 100% Attendance
Max class size – 20 pax

Course duration: 8 Hours (including 1 hour assessment – 30 mins written assessment and 30 mins practical assessment)

Passing Criteria:
Written Assessment (WA) – Attaining 60% overall marks
Practical Assessment (PA) – Attaining 100% competency in understanding proper use of fire extinguisher
